The band's style is very similar to King Crimson (its influence is very noticeable), similar not a copy by any means, as Shylock's proposal is very original, keeping his dark environments and showing technicality without cloying (as many did in that era). Next, a brief review of the album. \rThe first track gives the album its name and it's also the longest in duration ( 13 min), it's considered the masterpiece of the group because of its dynamism in terms of musical composition by each of the members. It is primarily characterized by many changes, and is probably the work with the most changes in the group's history . It is the band's most symphonic work, distancing themselves from the influence of King Crimson prevailing style. \rLe Sang des Capucines and Lierre D' aujourd'hui improvisations remind us many times to Starless and Bible Black from King Crimson, however these tracks alone don't represent a high point on the album and unfortunately put in evidence the need of the band to be introduced in the seventies progressive elite copying the sound of red king. Nice try, but could be much better. Choral and Himogene are two fillers, and actually I think the second could have been left out of the album, lacking the strength and mysticism that dominate it. \rWhile Ile de fièvre is widely regarded as the top part of the group, I believe that the last two songs are the real sound the group (if they remained active after this album). First, Laocksetal: since the begining you know you are going for something aggressive. This is the kind of aggressiveness that along with a good deal of tension, keep us fully attentive. Notably, during the first six minutes what stands out is the excellent guitar work of Frédéric l' Épée that even in some sections where you just play two or three notes repeatedly you can sense he was a witty and dynamic, accompanied by an excellent summary of the skills from the other members . The second half ... you'll have to judge by yourself, is truly hypnotic, overhanging keyboards and percussion. \rAnd finally we have Le Dernier. This is an added bonus in subsequent editions of the album, which is the last recording from the band in 1979. Actually, this song is so well put together that have had the greatest impact, Shylock would have been considered a classic of seventies progressive (albeit one- hit wonder) for it. I advice you should pay attention to in how l' Épée and Didier Lustig (keyboardist) accompany themselves during the song.
