To me, writing music is like panning for gold; you throw away a lot of gravel in the hope of finding a few nuggets that are priceless to you, and hopefully to others as well. I don't write music in the hope of making a lot of money, although if that happened, I certainly wouldn't mind...but my real motivation is the desire to write something beautiful, like great songs by others that I really admire. That's what pushes me to write every day...the hope that I'll write a few songs that I'll feel are as great as the songs and songwriters that have inspired me down through the years. There's beauty that comes out of creating great music that far surpasses how much money you might make out of being the writer of it. Yes, the money would be great too , but way beyond that would be the feeling of knowing you created something of beauty. That's what keeps me writing every day...the hope of creating some beauty I can call all my own!
