"Capirotada" is the latest release from the ORIGINAL Tejano group out of Pearsall, Texas (south Texas), CENTELLA! CENTELLA was formed back in 1990 by JP Guerra, and has made a name for itself with several hit tracks over the years, including "Te Quiero A Ti" and the original version of "Que No Vez" (the 2013 "Reset" version of "Que No Vez" can be found here on CD Baby - link is to the left). JP talked a bit about the new track and it's unique sound. " 'Capirotada' is a bi-lingual track, parts of which are sung in both Spanish and English, and the music has a more modern slower, heavier groove to it. But it still has that "familiar" feeling of a CENTELLA cumbia. I like to describe the new sound and feeling as "Cumbia Pop". In fact, we've got another cumbia coming out soon, which also has that same type of feeling." "And like I said, 'Capirotada's' got a slow, heavy sound, which is what drives the song, really. I like to think it falls into that category of material being put out by artists like AJ Castillo and Siggno, or producers like Gabriel Zavala. It's a more modern sound for us, and it kind of shows how we've evolved over time...especially since this is the first of a whole bunch of new tracks we have coming out. CENTELLA hasn't had a new release in years, literally! So it feels good to not only come out with something new and fresh, but also come out with something that keeps that 'old school' feeling in place. It's just more modern sounding, which shows our growth." "Capirotada" is actually the second track released off the "Reset" project, which has been in the works for several years now (the 2013 "Reset" version of "Que No Vez" was the first - again, link is to the left). "We definitely took our time with these tracks," JP says. "We wanted to make sure we put down the best possible performance and sound, and I'm very happy with how it came out. At one point, a DJ friend of ours, "Double E" (Eloy Espinoza) said 'Let it cook'...so we did, and now we have this really cool, neat sounding track, which I'm very proud to put out under the name CENTELLA."
