MTV Unplugged Live in Melbourne
Recorded on 22nd October 2019 in Melbourne, Australia, for MTV Unplugged, Courtney Barnett takes on the iconic session in her own inimitable style. The album includes exquisite stripped back versions of various Courtney Barnett hits, ably backed by her trusty bandmates Bones Sloane and Dave Mudie. Embracing the spirit of those that have passed before her, the album also features duets with legendary Australian rocker, Paul Kelly, fellow Milk! Records singer-songwriter, Evelyn Ida Morris, and Kiwi troubadour, Marlon Williams. In true MTV Unplugged style there are also a couple of covers, including a stunning rendition of the Leonard Cohen classic ‘So Long, Marianne’. There was even the opportunity to share yet another treat for fans in the form of a brand new song, the as yet untitled track was only written the day before the recording. 2020 will see Courtney kick off the year with yet more touring, a US solo tour in various theatres across the country in January and February, going back to her roots and reconnecting with fans after playing some of her biggest ever shows. 2019 was another year of live highlights, including a US tour supporting The National in June, South American and Far East tours, that also took in Courtney’s very first shows in China, and also a comprehensive European headline shows and festivals run that took in All Points East, Primavera Sound, Cabaret Vert and a headline set at Manchester Psyche Fest. She even had time to release a brand new single, the brilliantly titled ‘Everybody Here Hates You’ in April. "
