Founded in 2018, Von Kaiser is a collection of four musicians who don’t just want to remember the music and movies of the 80s, they want to celebrate it. Each from former bands ranging from punk to prog, metal to pop, the four musicians all found the Synthwave scene and collectively set out to join the movement. Their goal is to combine the instrumentation and energy of a traditional live band with the digital synth driven sounds of movie scores and video games from their youth. With this in mind, they craft each song as a soundtrack to a movie that never existed. With their debut album “Mona Lisa Overdrive”, Von Kaiser has created a vocal synthwave album that travels between the darkness of post apocalyptic futures, the innocence of high school prom dances, and the freedom of cruising the open road. As a live band, Von Kaiser doesn’t rely on technology as a crutch, but a performance tool. The members aim to engage an audience and feed off their energy, not to push play on a laptop. Von Kaiser consists of: David Mouatt on guitar and lead vocals, Jake VanRavenswaay on keytar and backup vocals, Kevin Barnes on synthesizer and saxophone, and Andrew Stork on drums and percussion.
