"Solve it in the Broad Daylight" was released in 2002 as the B side of the now-out-of-print 7" vinyl record (cover - pictured - art by Heidi D'Entremont) paired with Lonesome Red's memorable tune "I'm Not Fallin." Milkweed's "Solve it in the Broad Daylight" is available for the first time digitally. Milkweed formed in Boston in 1991 or 1992 when the three founding bandmembers shared a third story walk-up on Hillside Street in the *then* rough-and-tumble Mission Hill neighborhood. The same night Blind Banjo Djim traded his MBTA busking guitar for a mysterious-sounding banjo, Zev returned from a Northampton, Massachusetts bender with a violin (later found to belong to the late grandfather of Matt Solomon). Zev was ready to make some noise. G. Honey Porter provided more songwriting sensibility, instrumentation, and more singing. Around 1992 the three performed their first gig as milkweed at either the club called Jacques' or at the pub called Flann's. Reports differ. The rest of the 1990s found milkweed self-producing an eponymous cassette tape, vinyl 7"s, and CDs, literally burning up some college radio charts, and gigging up and down the East Coast, at times accompanied by Al Crockett on drums, or Mike Bullock (http://www.mikebullock.com/) on bass. Milkweed's "Solve it in the Broad Daylight" features Zev on guitar and vocals, Blind Banjo Djim on banjo and backup vox, and G. Honey Porter on drums and backup vox. Mike Bullock joins the trio for the recording on the upright bass. Today, still wanted by the government, the founding members of milkweed remain active recording artists and performers (except Zev now claims to be a recovering musician).
