Carlos Velasco grew up in Mexico City, the son of a mariachi. As a teenager, he would often accompany his father, building a tremendous repertoire of traditional Mexican music. At age 18, Carlos was admitted to the Conservatorio Nacional de Musical, known for producing some of the finest musicians in Mexico. He graduated and moved north to Los Angeles, where he was a part of the jazz scene for 15 years, playing with some of the region's finest musicians. In 2012, Carlos moved to San Diego, and quickly gained a reputation for his beautiful guitar chord voicings, and for his seemingly boundless repertoire, which consists of hundreds of songs in multiple languages. Possessing a classically trained baritone voice, Carlos sings mainly in Spanish, but is also proficient in French, Portuguese, English, Italian, and Polish. Carlos began recording this album in 2013, at Ocean way Recorders in Hollywood, California. Paired with the likes of Brian Bromberg on bass, Dan Siegel on piano, and the legendary Paulinho Da Costa on percussion, Carlos' composition skills and musicality were finally able to be displayed on a world class level. Respected as both a composer and performer, "Solea de la Noche" is the culmination of three studio sessions. The addition of saxophonist Javier Vergara and his friend, trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos, lends to the smooth Latin sound that permeates the airwaves of Southern California.
