(Heron) whose real name is Faris Martin, is a rapper of Puerto Rican descent that was born and raised in the South Bronx area of New York City.  “He started writing when he was 16 years old just for fun and eventually, it occurred to him that he had something real to say and that through his poetry he had a voice!  It was a logical leap to put a beat behind his mental wanderings.”  As a teen, Heron was influenced by many great rappers such as Rakim, Cool G Rap, NWA, Big Pun,B.I.G , 2PAC , Jay-Z, and Nas. He was drawn in by the lyrical way they portrayed their struggles and daily life.  There was nothing candy coated about their presentation and he connected with their honesty.  Heron began writing as a way of letting out his inner thoughts and, in doing so, he found himself drawned into the hip hop culture. In 2007 Heron started a group with a good friend of his call L.O.S stand for Life on da streets. The group name was Los & Heron they put out two mix tapes called Spanglish and Why not Us? and performed all over the bronx and in Manhattan and in 2014 they went separate ways to do their own solo projects.
