Ether
It was during a piano improvisation in a popular hotel in Dublin that João Páris got the first idea for Ether. He recorded then those 8 or so seconds of a magical repetitive melody in his mobile phone. But only when Overseas were formed a few years later they started working and crafting this melody. The band spent long hours discussing and building the concept of Ether. The drums were not only drums - Geoffrey Piesen was able to design a unique and detailed pattern which was much more than just a groove. Rui Sanches and Cau Marini put all their energy in the guitar and bass while the brass and string sections enriched the spirituality of the song. During a visit to the beach he spent his childhood Summers in the North of Portugal, João realized things were not the same - and he put that nostalgy in the lyrics which perfectly fit the harmony of the instrumental. Ether has this unique song progression that goes towards a spectacular and epic final - It really worth listening.
