I am influenced by many different kinds of music. Growing up in the sixties I was influenced by the English bands, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Kinks. I also used to listen to many American artists, JJ Cale, Leon Russell and the Eagles. I also listened to many solo albums by Don Henley. Most notably The Boys of Summer. I also like Neil Young. There have been quite a few people say that my voice sounds like Neil Young. I also derive inpiration from my songs from many different sources. Sometimes I hear a line at a party and think that would make a good story line. The song "Sooner or later" came from a line I saw in a movie. The song "Back when I used to drink" was a line I heard from a person I heard talking to in church. Anniversary song was derived from a singing job I was playing. I was playing the job and there were only a few songs left to play. He told me to play a song for his wife's anniversary. I really didn't have anything to play and I was embarrassed. After the job was over I went home and started to write the song. It is always a bit of magic to come up with the inspiration for a song. I usually derive most of my inspiration from sitting around playing the guitar and coming up with riffs. I'm not sure where it comes from and that is the most fun.
