"Chomp On" is the new 2 cd compilation collection from Alligator Jackson. The cd also features several new AJ tracks and several previously unreleased gator tunes. Disc one contains the southern fried rockers that have become internet radio staples worldwide. Side 2 contains special guest appearences from Gary Jeffries (lead singer of Alligator Stew and Asphalt Ballet as well as other groups), Jeff Westlake (lead guitarist of Hydrogyn) and up and coming country vocalist Tracy Dement (from the Huntington, WV tri-state area.) Side 2 also contains the gator's project with Nigel Cuff. These classic styled rockers play tribute to the great melodic hard rock that rose out of the 70's and 80's. "Chomp On" offers something for everyone. AJ's roots are well documented with riffs that pay tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd ("Liquid Courage"), ZZ Top ("Pull No Punches"), The Eagles ("Paradise Closed"), Velvet Revolver ("Overload"), Deep Purple ("Dangerous Curves"), Pink Floyd ("Heaven's Gate") and other classic bands. Alligator Jackson pays tribute to Huntington, WV tri-state areas legendery late, great James Michael Murphy as he covers "Ol' Cheap Wine." AJ also covers "Son" which was written and recorded by AJ's creator David William's second cousin - Scott Weiland of STP and Velvet Revolver. It's about several guys I know from local bars that get tougher with each shot of whiskey. You know the type - the quiet 5 foot five guy who is suddenly 6 foot 5 after a few shots of Jack or Turkey. 2- Spirit Of The Wild AJ is paying tribute to his favorite kind of wildlife - the 2 legged female. 3- Southern Soil This is about dying with integrity and dignity and just wanting to go back home again. I hope that when I'm dying that I can reflect on the good things of a life that was lived without regret. There is a future after death that not everyone things about when this life is ending. 4- Enjoy The Ride A southern fried rave up about enjoying life and not sweating the small things. 5- Full Glass This is a southern rock ballad that I wrote after a breakup with a girl I dated for about 4 years. There's definite sadness in the song but there's also hope in the song. As a relationship ends a whole new door may be opening up somewhere. After a breakup, someone may feel lonely and empty but in reality, the glass is full and ready to be drank again. There are always new and exciting adventures waiting ahead so even in your darkest moment, fill the glass back up and get ready ready to drink life again. 6- Bite The Bullet Never say die! AJ singer Dave Scarboro had a bad cold when he recorded this and wanted to rerecord but I liked the garage band styled sound that his cold gave him and the fact that he sounds different than on most of his songs. Sometimes things don't go as they should and even turn out better. 7- Beer Truck An ode to America's forgotten hero - the beer truck driver. What would we do without him? 8- Repo Man My good friend John Moore - the orginal Repo Man - and I wrote this tune to another American hero .....well, to some a villian maybe...... The Repo Man. Well, The Repo Man is a hero though he may be a misunderstood villian like Spiderman was in the beginning. The Repo Man does help keep prices down by repossing items so they can be resold at a budget price. 9- Hell's Breaking Loose Ahhhhh.......barfights.....the joy of youth. I'm too old fer 'em now so I just write 'bout 'em. 10- Blood On The Wall Misunderstood as an anti-war song it's a southern rocker about wars in a relationship and the damage they do on a person's emotional well-being. 11- Snake In The Woodpile Hey, stay away from my girl!!!!!!..........lol 12- Southern BBQ Inspired by my friends at www.allsouthernrock.com and espically the owner - Brad. 13- Alligator Jackson The world could use a few more vigilantes. 14- Gunfire In Hazard A story about a guy who didn't worry about drug dealers until it directly impacted his life. By then, it's usually too late and tragically in the story it was. The party chic who you can't say no too and she can't say no to anyone. 22- The Strip Bar Song C'mon guys, we've all felt this but few actually have had the courage to yell out "Put it Back on". we all scream "take it off" but sometimes ya gotta be careful what ya wish fer." 23- Big Headed Dog (metal mix) An ex had a lil' Shih Tzu and when it got bathed and trimmed it's head would look so much bigger than his body so I would make up songs and sing them about a big headed dog, to get on her nerves......it finally worked.... we've been broke up for 3 years. Disc Two- "AJ and Friends" 1- Southern Soil (Gary Jeffries) One of my favorite singers in the whole world is Gary Jeffries. I love the spin he put on this song. It kind ofreminds me of Knocking on Heaven's Door. I love the harmonica. 2- The Southern Man (Gary Jeffries) Me and Gary decided to update the Hank classic to make it more reflective on how today's econmy is tough on everyone but we can't hang the white flag....not a southern man, it's not in his blood, he's a natural fighter. 3- Chomp Down Hard (Jeff Westlake of Hydrogyn) I grew up with Jeff Westlake of Hydrogyn. We wrote songs as teenagers, we just had to do a song together, kind of destiny. There will be more. 4- Overload I gave Nigel a cd of my second cousin's band (Scott Weiland) Velvet Revolver. It inspired him so much he created the music to this song and I wrote the lyrics. 5- Dangerous Curves A double entendre song about sex or racing with Nigel blistering the guitar with Deep Purple like riffs. 6- Name Your Poison Let it rock, Nigel, let it rock! 7- Sweet Lady Blue Eyes 8- Changed Man The strength of human nature and the victory of man overcoming his biggest obstacle - himself. 9- Heaven's Gate Pink Floyd meets the Beatles. 10- Beer Truck (Tracy Dement) An up and comer from Chesapeake, Ohi oin the Huntington area. He's got that Applacian twang. 11- Hot Summer Girls (Tracy Dement) 12- The Wrong Way Sometimes you can't win fer losing. 13- Midnight's Creeping Sometime's the dark is scary. Not because of what is in it but because you are alone - with just your thoughts, desires, and fears....even worse, your doubts. 14-Skin It Back Buddy Guy stlye blues. Pass me some of that cajun chicken! 15- Sexy Blues Stevie Ray riffs in a country blues tune. 16- Bad Attitude Some girls are just BAD..... and that's good.....very good! 17- Betty Sue's Drinking Yep, she's a real person and this ia true story. Oh yes, it is!! 18- Rev It Up 19- Waffle House 4am If you ever been to Waffle House after a good night's drinking, ya know what I mean! 20- Carolina Summer Nights If you ever been at Myrtle Beach with someone special......again, you know what I mean! 21- Girl At The Bar 22- Ol' Cheap Wine (Mike Murphy and Zachariah cover) A tribute to a muscian from the Huntington area that died tragically in a fire. An awesome songwriter and a great song. 23- Son (Scott Weiland cover) My second cousin Scott Weiland wrote this and Nigel makes it sound like a Beatles ballad...which I think it is the way Scott intended.
