"Poets & The Beast" is Mercury & The Architects debut E.P written, sung and produced by TJ Mercury. “We are the architects of our own lives,” he says. “I want to show the world that through every creative endeavor, we’re all like architects, designing our experience through expression.” The tracks are compelling, expertly produced East Coast hip hop with innovative instrumentation, interwoven with earnest melodies and eloquent, powerful rapping. TJ is joined by silky-voiced vixen and fellow band member Christina Maia on three songs, bringing an infusion of sultry sophistication with vocals to challenge Adele and Aguilera, changing up his driven messages. The five song collection was engineered by Greg Pizzullo and mastered at Engine Room Studios by multiple Grammy nominee Mark B. Christensen. (Mark B. Christensen is highly regarded for his work with Lady Gaga, The Killers and Brantley Gilbert on hit “Bottoms Up”) The EP is a collection of songs that meld grit with grace in music and words. TJ Mercury brings the concept of yin & yang as an internal struggle on the first track which borrows its name from the EP. “Life We Found” guides us to come to grips with ourselves and where we are. Lead single “Philosophy of Hope” encourages us to accept that change is inevitable and, through awareness, evolution is possible. “Tonight” offers lyrics both inspired by and questioning love. “The Architect”, explains Mercury, is “...the theme song of everything I’m trying to do and everything I believe in.” Mercury & The Architects are truly representing on this debut EP, dedicated to bringing through highest ideals through music and words.
