Erasmus was formed by guitarist/vocalist McKay Joseph Harris and drummer Gary Ashcroft in the crisp Utah autumn of 2011 when a mutual friend watched Harris performing with another band. With the addition of bassist Will Alder and guitarist Zach Lowe, Erasmus found the type of chemistry that many musicians spend years searching for. Erasmus features songwriting that is both melancholic and powerful, equal parts melody and attack. With influences ranging from art metal bands such as A Perfect Circle and Opeth, to the electronic ambiance of Jakatta or Above and Beyond, Erasmus defies both genre and expectations.
