Wesna, Wesnoiu
In music I am inspired by nature – especially by its richness and diversity of sounds and images, and also by the silence that it can provide. People inspire me as well; their lives, actions, emotions (or lack of them), their faces, expressions and gestures. Different kinds of music, the sounds made by a vacuum cleaner or a refrigerator, and other sounds that surround us can all be used while singing or playing - these, too, are also sources of inspiration for me. Now I am working on my first album, which will include pieces of music that I composed and my interpretations of folk songs. You can listen to the first versions of these by clicking on the “multimedia” link. The idea for the CD with folk music was born in 2006. Various drafts originated and took shape in 2010, the year during which most of these pieces of music were composed. Some melodies, such as the music for Bohdan Antonych’s poems, appeared in 1995 for the children’s band Sianichok, where I was singing and playing violin from 1992 to 2000. Then different melodies were created for Antonych’s poems which I plan to present in the next recording. These pieces of music that we recorded with Pawel Malecki in a home studio were turned over to Szymon Piotrowski, who arranged them and also played drums – in exactly the way that I had imagined. At the next stage I invited Demko Trochanowski to the project. I asked him to reproduce the bass and accordion music which I had composed, and he did much more. For many pieces he played the bass music that was in his head instead of those that I had come up with and, as a result, these pieces sound even better. All of the work with the sopiłka was produced by Pawel Malecki to whom I am grateful for his arrangement of my ideas and his music mixing. The song “Vesna wesnoju” was created just for Pawel.
