Of her own music she says: “My journey in music and in life has always been an expression of conflicts which I experience in my everyday life. The conflict of an African woman in a Western world, a woman in a man’s world, a privately schooled underprivileged black girl who identifies with bits of many cultures and yet is concerned by the endangered nature of African heritage. My music is constantly searching for balance and a meaning in these conflicts, a release of this tension. But it is also a celebration of a unique cultural identity to which I belong.”
