I Would Save You, the love song from the movie Granite Orpheus, is a collaboration between songwriter/producer Brian Coombes and singer/songwriters Patrik Gochez and Alex Preston. The collaboration for this song began with a phone call between Brian Coombes and the director of the movie Granite Orpheus. He mentioned that the movie needed an original song for an important scene in the movie, and Brian offered to write one with Patrik and Alex. After a successful songwriting session, recording began at Rocking Horse Studio in Pittsfield, NH. The track features some of the finest musicians in New England, including Jordan Tirrell-Wysocki on fiddle, Richard Gardzina on woodwinds, Rick Black on piano, and Myron Kibbee and Ian Sleeper on guitar. The song eventually became a duet with the amazing Anna Madsen adding her powerful vocals. All three of the primary performers/songwriters are known for their individual accomplishments. Brian Coombes is an award-winning producer, songwriter, and musician who spent 12 years in the progressive rock band Tristan Park. Patrik Gochez is the lead singer, guitarist, and primary songwriter in the award-winning band Pat & the Hats. And Alex Preston is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist best known as a finalist on American Idol.
