EDELSTAHL Collapsed EP Swiss Techno warlord Edelstahl is kicking off 2015 with intent with this new package of belligerent productions all latched onto his signature hefty sound. Already boasting a discography into the hundreds theres a relentless energy about the start of this year and with this just the start of a sonic assault in the months ahead were looking at a memorable road ahead. CALL ME Keeping to a protocol thats glued down Edelstahls imposing production style Call Me laces an absorbing and chaotic lead line that sprays erratic frequencies around the fierce sub bass and hefty kick streaks. The only respite a short and eerie break that sends a swirling lead into a strung-out stack of delay repetitions - before being extinguished by a typically hostile bass introduction. Edelstahls corrupt and infectious synth loop is as ever a stiff proposition and pushing the envelope for tough and high-impact Techno that demands attention. DARKMOON Tough from the launch Darkmoon sits on a bed of mutated percussive elements - all screwed down to the pulsing bass drum resulting in a stiff and volatile-sounding low end that pushes the subs to extremes, without ever sounding muddy or overcooked. The modular-sounding recess gives the bass a short break, before collapsing into a trippy climax, which reinitiates the authoritative bass passage. Wrapped in haunting risers and disturbed synth stabs Edelstahl devises a flurry of variations on the rhythmic elements,keeping Darkmoon unpredictable throughout the productions length. STORM Starting with a burst of erratic hats and top end Storm kick off with a punchy kick and reverb-soaked hits before halting to a breakdown - letting off a huge metallic synth upshot before opening to the devious main body. Patched up with broken-fx, mechanical hats and brash bottom end Storm shows off Edelstahls love for the unpredictable. The middle break cuts away the low end introducing a daunting lead that no doubt inspired the tracks title. With the year ahead looking like a non-stop barrage of music Edelstahl is making a stand in the Techno game.
