His new Laguna de la Vera shows the same mastery of discreet melodies which seem familiar at first listen. Positive, bright and romantic, Koch plays nearly all the instruments, and his ever-present piano touch seldom misses the mark. The flute parts by Christiane Bohm and drums by Christoph Koch add just the right support. The feel is rather cinematic, gentle and rarely imposing, as the 14 tracks on Laguna de la Vera wander through a variety of romantic themes.
