Monsoon Featuring Sheila Chandra presents a blend of pop and Indian music with respectable results. However, some listeners may consider the album too pop, while others may consider the sitar- and tabla-driven songs too Indian. Chandra is one of world music's most popular vocalists and she does have a fine, but not outstanding, voice. The album includes four different versions of the hit "Ever So Lonely." If you're looking for Indian music, this is not the album for you -- but if you seek a hybrid Indian-pop release, the album is not bad.
