When I set out to compose the music for "The Way I Like It" I was inspired fully by a number of people and experiences, some on a very personal level, and some simply by association and close contact. In the months leading up to this recording I was inspired by a number of bassists also who in part gave me the courage to simply be my self and create my own art following my own muse, and in ways acted as mentors: Jonas Hellborg, John B Williams, Lee Sklar, TM Stevens, Alphonso Johnson, Steve Bailey, and Antonella Mazza along with countless others. I also found huge inspiration from my new one of a kind custom Warwick 12 string bass which as you will hear has a beautiful voice. Ultimately though, it is the combined creative synergy of the my self, producer/mix engineer George Harris and percussionist Gumbo Ortiz that make this music come to life in these recordings. I hope you will enjoy this album and it might offer a relaxing listen and transport you to a blissful place.
