La Belle Vie (The Good Life). On a sunny day in the spring of 2016, I visited the French Immersion students at North Lewis Elementary in New Iberia, Louisiana. We wrote this playful song together. This is a project rich and varied just like the French Immersion experience itself. The song speaks of the joys of living in South Louisiana and looks at life from the point of view of young students. They are proof of the vitality of the French language in Louisiana and of the promise it holds for the future. For me personally it was a great pleasure to collaborate with the students and to feel their passion for the French language , to see the spark in their eyes and to hear the songs in their hearts.
