These are songs that Alan Merrill's been fond of over the years in their raw enthusiastic demo state, never recorded in a studio but at home, largely because he didn't think he could "beat the demo" in the clinical atmosphere of a professional recording environment. It's stylistically diverse and crosses many rock and R&B approaches in style. One of the songs ("Ecstasy") has already been covered by actor/model/singer Steve Flanagan in 1978. "Child Of The Night" which is the first track on the album will be featured in the horror film with the working title "Dr. West" (a Re-animator parody) scheduled to be out on Halloween, October 31st 2016. Some of the songs are published by ATV Music where Alan had a publishing deal in London and was a staff songwriter there. These tracks were recorded right after his band the Arrows broke up and and merged with members of the group Rare Bird to record some tracks on a Teac 4 track machine just before they became the band Runner (Island records), which should be interesting for collection completists of those bands. Most of the tracks were recorded at home on a Fostex 8 track machine though, where Alan Merrill played all the instruments and sang all the parts, engineering the sessions himself. Last but not least his (then) 13 year old daughter Laura sings an adorable cameo lead vocal on "Too Shy," a song written in a style suitable for a young teen idol. That's it. The album is titled Demo Graphic because it is just that, graphic raw demos that show the songs with energy that they have right after they were written.
