The One

The One

Born and raised in regional NSW, Hayley Jensen has always had a love for singing, horse riding (often at the same time!) and wide-open spaces. Hayley grew up listening to her parent’s favourite music in The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, developing her own love for country music in her teens, influenced by crossover country/singer-songwriter artists such as Jewel, Colbie Caillat, Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLauchlan, who became Hayley's source of musical inspiration. In 2004, with a fire burning in her heart to pursue singing more seriously, Hayley auditioned for the 2nd series of Australian Idol with an unforgettable rendition of McLauchlin's 'Angel', capturing the hearts and minds of viewers across the nation with her lilting vocals and emotive performance. Following this, Hayley was inundated with personal notes and handwritten letters of encouragement, stories of life-changing revelation and reunited love. The response was overwhelming and served to reinforce that Hayley was on the right track musically, and set for big things... In 2007, Hayley independently (on her own label, ‘White Dove Music’ via MGM) released her debut album, ‘Note To Self’, produced by CMAA Golden Guitar and ARIA winning producer, Matt Fell at Love Hz Studios, with songs co-written by some of the finest country writers in Australia (Sam Hawksley, Jay & Jasper Collie of Jonah's Road, and Matt Fell). Hayley’s debut EP ‘Alive’, lifted from the album, received high-rotation on community and commercial radio (Mix and Austereo Network) in Hayley’s home town of Canberra, hit #2 in Australian Independent Records (AIR) charts & #20 on the Australian ARIA Singles charts. Follow up singles ‘Stronger’ & ‘Waste Away’ both experienced successful national radio campaigns and the music videos were broadcast nationally on ‘Video Hits’ and ‘Rage’ music TV shows, and Hayley was a finalist in the New Artist 2 Radio (NA2R) Competition run by Commercial Radio Australia. Hayley’s live show is also captivating. She has performed for hundreds at her own intimate original shows, and thousands at all major entertainment centers across Australia, and large scale high profile corporate & public events. Hayley’s performed for the Prime Minister on numerous occasions, and even travelled to the Middle East with the Australian Defence Force to entertain coalition forces alongside Australian Country music royalty, Beccy Cole. In 2013, Hayley’s band, Silver Cities, were selected as feature artists for the Australian Independent Music Awards (Music Oz), finalists in 3 categories, and won a prestegious award. Their album, ‘Lights’, recorded by multi award winning producer, Lindsay Rimes, and was released later that year. In 2014, Hayley made an explosive return to the small screen with her performance of 'Freefallin' on The Voice, which saw Joel Madden, literally 'free-fall' off his big red judges chair, invoking attention from media outlets worldwide. Will.i.Am, who’s chair turned first, was quoted as saying “all of your notes were flawless, your falsetto was freakin' fantabulous!” Musically, Hayley has dabbled in a number of different genres over the years, but has always had strong ties, and more recently felt a real calling back to her roots in country music: "I am a storyteller at heart. Sure, it's fun to sing pop songs (just ask Taylor Swift!) but my passion has, and always will be, with country music as a singer-songwriter." Most of 2015 has seen Hayley immerse herself in songwriting, both for her own releases and for other artists, such as Amber Lawrence. Now, with a swag of fresh new tunes, Hayley has just finalised the production of her first true offering to country music. Brought to life by ARIA and CMMA Golden Guitar Award winning producer, Matt Fell, 'The One' is a catchy, ukulele laden, summer hit, and will be released just in time for Tamworth Country Music Festival in January 2016, where Hayley is a finalist in the Toyota Star Maker competition. Star Maker is Australia's largest and most prestigious country music talent search, an has been a launching pad for the careers of artists such as Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole, Gina Jeffrey's and many others since 1979. When asked about her new songs, and return to her roots in country music, Hayley simply said, “It feels great to be home!”
