George Anthony was born in Hialeah, FL, a predominantly Cuban suburb of Miami, FL to Cuban immigrant parents in 1984. They moved to Central Florida 12 years later where he attended high school and eventually graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2005. George studied classical and Latin piano during most of his youth, even after picking up his first guitar at the age of 11. His father, a drummer, bassist, and keyboardist, exposed him to a wide variety of music growing up, from traditional Cuban classics to 60s tunes from the Beach Boys and The Doors. Because his mother worked for an airline in South Florida, George traveled much of the Caribbean during his youth and visited Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and many other islands in the region. Accordingly, he draws some of his inspiration from roots reggae and traditional Cuban and Puerto Rican music. After fronting a local reggae/rock band in Central Florida during college, he began writing and performing solo acoustic songs, and finally released his first home-recorded EP, "North Beach Sessions" in October 2012, which consists of 5 original songs. He moved to San Clemente, CA in 2008 where he remained for six years until the Marine Corps transferred him to Monterey, CA to attend graduate school. He resides in Monterey, CA with his wife, Ana Maria, and they are moving to Indonesia in 2016. George is a United States Marine and has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Pacific.
