He started performing at the age of 6 and he was exposed to the industry by partaking in various talent shows, these helped boost his confidence and he natured his gift of music by taking lessons from different drama classes that were offered to previously disadvantaged children with his community. Later in his journey he joined a group called SOWETO GOSPEL CHOIR and stayed with them for 3 years. Sonke then decided it is time to spread his wings and fly high. In 2005 he was offered a scholarship to do acting at the National Children’s theatre formerly known as JYT in Parktown. He’s toured South Africa, London and France with the choir and shared the stage with musicians like Celine Dion, Mary J Blidge, Danny K, Loyiso Bala, Steven Molakeng and Johnny Clegg…. Just to name a few. He entered SOUTH AFRICA IDOLS season 09 in 2013 and became the top 3 finalist by public votes. He has over 20k followers on Facebook and over 14k on Twitter.
