“My music is as progressive for Hip-hop, as my commitment to my community is for Detroit.”—Khary WAE Frazier “If Detroit were Heaven,” is an experiential journey from his Rosa Parks boulevard neighborhood to his now eclectic network of rockers, jazz players, electronic musicians, and community leaders. The music is a journal of the relationships with Frazier has developed with Detroit icons to the city itself. It's view of the post-industrial Mecca is from the vision of a Black entrepreneur inside the neighborhood where the 1967 riots began, till today's reality of family strength through economic struggle. This album is not only an ode to Detroit but to the people that have made this city. From the everyday struggles of Detroiters and the demons battled with, to the socio-economic conditions of Black and Brown people in the city, this album could be used as a platform to expand the brands of community organizations like ARISE DETROIT, independent clothing (Detroit vs Everybody) and can also be used in a more grassroots political arena for organizations like the People’s Platform. This album helps to connect people with experiences, ideas and events.
