Cancer
SELDOM is a four piece band that was established June 2012 in Houston, TX. Although a young band, Seldom has already started to make an impact in the music scene by playing several shows with bands such as ERA 9, Straight Line Stitch, Day of Reckoning, and Nothing More. We have played shows and rocked faces at venues such as Scout Bar, BFE Rock Club, and Fitzgerald’s in Houston, and will be featured at SXSW in Austin, TX. Seldom's primary goal in writing music has been to ensure that each song is different, both melodically and lyrically, so that each song provides fans with a different, new experience. This has led to the creation of Seldom's debut album "One Left Standing", which will be released in 2014. "One Left Standing" is a collection of original songs that both fit with the current music landscape, but are equally distinctive from other bands and from the other songs in the album. The music and lyrics for "One Left Standing", written by Mitch Atkinson (Vocals), Matt Hernandez (Guitar), Carlos Hidalgo (Bass), and Bryan Murillo (Drums), each deal with topics concerning self-reflection and realization, overcoming personal internal conflicts, and fighting against societal norms. "Cancer" is the first single to be released off of the upcoming album. The single was recorded at Houston-based Psychonaut Studios and was mastered by UE Nastasi, who has done mastering work for Lamb of God, Walls of Jericho, Gojira, and many more. "Cancer", one of the first tracks written by the band, is a hard-hitting song that starts off grungy and builds up to powerful ending. Seldom picked "Cancer" as their first track because it is a very good representation of the band's sound, and a song that is very easily relatable. Seldom is very active on Facebook, so be sure to like their page to get more updates on the album, and to find out when Seldom is coming to a city near you!
