Hailing from the magical Northern New South Wales border of Australia, Ivie arrived on the musical landscape in the middle part of 2012 with their debut release "Sleeveless Heart". A seven song mini album full of sophistication. With warm vocal tones and elegant song structures that place you in the glow of an open fire on a winters night. The songs have a unique blend of soul, folk, blues and rock. With their new album "The Blue", released September 2014, Ivie have once again teamed up with the musical genius of Syd Green whose collaboration has taken the album to a new level of granduer. As well as the soul, folk, blues and rock, Ivie have now added a heaped spoon of psychedelia to make "The Blue" a must listen for any music fan. Track one, "Island Time" has a beautiful blend of acoustic guitar, keys, bass and electric guitar. The chorus is majestic with an engulfing vocal melody. Track two, "Choose Day" is reminiscent of the Beatles but with lounge overtones. A very sweet vocal with lush keys, groovy bass and sax solo. Track three, "Open Sea" is as vast musically as it is wide. This eight and a half minute monster has a tight crunchy verse and a chorus that takes on Crosby Stills and Nash proportions. The coda of the song is a musical journey dripping in psyche that needs to be heard to be believed. Track four "Into Silence" sounds like it has taken the best of Zeppelin and Purple with crazy time signature changes and dynamic sound structures. The chorus is about as rock as it gets. Track five, "Space Jam" harks back to the kaleidoscopic coda of Open Sea. Track six and final song "Heal Me" has an alluring vocal full of emotion and heartache that is a perfect end to this resplendent mini album. The Blue is a highly recommended purchase for any music lover.
