"This world is not my home.....I'm just a passin' thru" .......are the words to the first song my Papaw taught me to play on the piano when I was around 12 years old. Growing up in Eastern Kentucky, I came from a family who had a tradition of playing gospel music on many Saturday nights just for fun and fellowship. I never thought much about it then, but now realize that those moments and the messages in the songs we sang have shaped, and at times directed my life to this day. We are all on a journey of the soul. This journey is custom designed for each one of us. As we travel, God is teaching and growing us in preparation of the day we will come face to face with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be changed into His likeness once and for all. The older I get, the stranger this world becomes to me and the more I look forward to Heaven. I pray as you listen to this recording you will be encouraged by the Holy Spirit to press on and keep your mind focused on things eternal. Look up my brothers and sisters…… “Canaan land is just in sight!” Let me add.........I am extremely grateful to my long time friend and brother in the Lord, the great gospel songwriter Conrad Cook who has gone on to Glory. He was the musical “mentor” who encouraged me to start writing gospel songs and, as only he could say, to “sing your soul, son”. He taught me to "come out of myself" and "let God be God". His influence and love was invaluable and obvious in the way I have come to deliver what God has burned down in my soul through this wonderful gift of music! Finally, this is my "life" verse that I must share because it has, is, and will carry me through this journey Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
