Cult of Luna’s new EP Vertikal II, the appropriately titled EP follow-up to Vertikal, released earlier this year. Lucky for you, you impatient summamabitches, you didn’t have to wait very long to hear the whole EP even though it’s not being officially released until September 17th: Metal Injection is streaming it in full right now. Vertikal II definitely shows a different side of Cult of Luna, more electronic, more ambient and on the whole much darker. Justin Broadrick’s remix of the Vertikal track “Vicarious Redemption” is a mind-warp to be sure, while the 12-minute long track “Shun the Mask” is more of what you’d expect from CoL, albeit with some unexpected twists.
