by Jim Brenholts Space Design: Software Soundscapes [Remix] is actually a strong effort from the Software team of Michael Wiesser and Peter Mergener. While much of their electronica is formulaic and basic, this set has something extra. Mergener performed all of the music, with Wiesser co-writing and producing. There are touches of bravado, dynamic symphonic synths, and vast atmospheres. Mergener surrounds those elements with deep Berlin-school sequences. This is an excellent starting point for a Software collection. It will appeal to fans of Klaus Schulze, Robert Schroeder, and Peter Seiler.
