Unbreakable Hearts
Fearless Vampire Killers have announced that they will release their sophomore studio album, Unbreakable Hearts, on November 3 via their personal label, Goremount Records. The record, which was produced by William Control, is separated into four parts that cohesively serve as a sequel to the band's debut LP, Militia Of The Lost. Whether it be touring with Black Veil Brides or starting up their own social network, Suffolk alt-rockers Fearless Vampire Killers never fail to keep themselves busy. Now the band are unveiling their new second studio album, Unbreakable Hearts, which continues the concept of their debut record Militia of the Lost. The latest album – which was both recorded and produced by William Control at his home studio is Seattle, USA – is separated into four sections; Exile, Loss, Recovery and War, with vocalist Laurence Beveridge providing further narration on each track. The first song on the album comes in the form of ‘Intermission’ – a concoction of static noise and melodic piano – which is not sectioned into any of the aforementioned categories; as it seeps into the start of ‘Say What You Want From Me’ listeners find themselves suddenly immersed in Exile, with its heavy guitars and crowd-friendly sing-a-long choruses as heard in ‘Turn Your Heaven to a Tomb’ and ‘Exploding Heart Disorder.’ ‘Taste the Iron on Your Lips’, a softly sung piano-based track, marks the start of Loss, which then shifts into the riff-ladened ‘Our Nature’s Unnatural’ and ‘Dream of You,’ which stands out from the rest due its pop beat and shimmering guitar solo. The Recovery segment of the album features a more jovial, optimistic feel, with tracks such as ‘In Wondrous Rage’ and ‘Neon in the Dance Halls’ being melodic and up-tempo, the latter bearing a stark contrast to the earlier tracks of Loss-the fragile piano has been pushed away, and replaced with roaring guitars and determined words. At the end of it all, there is War, featuring the title track ‘Unbreakable Hearts’ which, with its strong vocals and riveting guitar melodies, is nothing less than a monumental anthem for the masses. The following track ‘Remember My Name’ boasts a dark feel with heavy use of distorted guitars, and ‘Lucifer’s Shroud’ is sombre and haunting, once again demonstrating the darker side that Fearless Vampire Killers are known to possess. The delicate attributes of finale ‘City Falls to Dust’ come from gentle piano playing which, when matched with the heartfelt vocals and expertly-executed harmonies, makes it nothing less than epic. Fearless Vampires have pulled off a feat that many bands try and fail to do- to create a sound that allows their old style and new rhythms to exist in harmony with each other. Unbreakable Hearts shows the band pushing the boundaries of their sound, exploring the use of fresh and exciting techniques and taking a leap of faith as to whether they can pull it off; confirming that they really are fearless.
