Raul's 2007 record "A World Within A World" was a more personal record for Raul and proved to be an exercise in furthering himself as a singer. It really has more of a soul / R&B sound about it for the most part, as well as having some A Cappella, Argentinian and Spanish influences and sounds thrown in there too! Some of the songs and ideas drew on experiences and dreams Raul had as a child and the record in Raul's words is the most reflective of him as an artist / singer as well as being, in terms of themes explored, the most of the moment and what was happening in the world at the time. Raul Midon brings a vibrant sound steeped in classic soul to the pop arena, because pop is where a singer and a song can have the biggest and most widespread impact. When an envelope-pushing song becomes a pop hit, it shifts the entire musical landscape, forcing out the shopworn and clichéd while opening the windows of change to let in fresh ideas.
