After relocating to Montreal at age 19, he signed on to play bass with the local band La Chicane in 1999, quickly proving his mettle as a composer with "Tu M'manques," which earned three Félix Awards and one Juno Award. In early 2002 Bédar launched a solo career with the LP Fruit de Ma Récente Nuit Blanche. Écoute-Moi Donc followed two years later.
